Greg's Place in Albrook
Is a special upscale tropical home in Albrook, Panama. This is a great location close to Albrook's Airport (3 minutes by taxi). Originally built approx. 75 years ago as a Canal Zone home for US officers and their families. It has been thoroughly remodeled to bring out a tasteful appearance and modern decor. The area has excellent water quality, that taste good and is safe. The utilities are reliable and underground. The home has high speed Internet all throughout.
The Guest Bedroom has a large balcony where coatimundi (similar to a raccoon) visit every day. You are also welcome to put bird food (supplied by Greg) on the bird feeders just outside this room. This room has a comfortable orthopedic Queen size bed and a desk with a comfortable chair. The Guest Bathroom (sometimes shared) has a large shower with hot and cold water and excellent water pressure.
This is the perfect location to base your vacation in Panama at affordable prices. It's located between Panama City and many of the sites that you'll probably want to see such as the Miraflores Visitors Center of the Panama Canal, Casco Viejo, Amador Causeway, Cinta Costera, Parque Metropolitano and Ancon Hill make this an ideal location to base your vacation in Panama.

The Place
The home is a really nice and perfect for having contact with nature. We are very fortunate to have occasional visits from a great variety of tropical birds and other animals such as coatimundi (gatos solos) and agouti (ñeques) every day. These are all protected animals. If you look for them (and have a little luck), there are many other tropical animals to see including monkeys, two types of sloths, pacas, iguanas, armadillos, weasels, otters, possums, and capybara (the world's largest rodent).
Greg offers a very popular experience called
'Birding & Breakfast' where he can guarantee that you will see and
hear a variety of beautiful birds while you have breakfast in the
screened in patio. This special breakfast includes smoothies made from
home grown fruits at affordable prices to his guest. He will even give
you a map to find caiman crocodiles, tropical slider turtles and Jesus
Christ lizards (run on top of the water) about a 10 minute walk from my
house. You may see other animals as well as you walk through the
neighborhood.

Stayed a few nights. Everything worked out wonderfully and Greg was always available for interesting conversations and tips. The place was as described in a lovely quiet area and not far from the center of town. The highlight was the garden full of birds, agutis and coatamundis - perfect place for wildlife watching! Stayed one night. Our stay at Greg's Place was wonderful. The place is comfortable, clean and conveniently located, perfect for resting and enjoying a quiet atmosphere in the city. Greg is a very friendly host and always willing to help with any questions or recommendations. What we enjoyed the most was the connection with nature. During our stay, we were pleasantly surprised to receive visits from birds, to Rocky a coati that visited our balcony and arrived at breakfast time, ñeques, which made the experience even more special. It's an ideal place for those who love nature and want to relax in a cozy environment and feel at home. We enjoyed a couple of games of chess!! A unique and healthy breakfast experience, and even more with the visit from the birds. I would definitely recommend this place and come back without thinking twice. A unique experience in Albrook! Stayed a few nights. Greg’s place is a great find. Love the neighborhood and I felt safe walk in g around alone. Within walking distance (5-10 minutes) to restaurants, groceries, pharmacy, etc. I will be booking this place again next time I come to Panama.

Stayed a few nights. We love Greg!!! We have stayed with him twice now and would certainly stay with him again. Very kind and has plenty of local recommendations for you to make the most of your trip. The bird watching in the back yard is also incredible and getting to hang out with Bongo the house dog is certainly an added plus. :-) Everything is clean and the house is lovely, highly recommend!

Stayed over a week. Greg's house was definitely one of the best places I've ever stayed at. We stayed there 13 nights and it was always very comfortable. Greg has a wonderful house, with two beautiful dogs, Sabi and Bongo, who are a delight (I miss them). They look for you to play with them, and even though they're inside the house, the house has no hair, no smells, nothing. It's always clean. In addition, Greg has an area in the yard to feed all kinds of birds and monkeys, and they come every morning and every afternoon to eat. It's wonderful. He has a friend who's free, but he always comes to eat. His name is Rocky and he's a lone cat. I have no complaints about my stay. The common areas were always clean. Even though Greg was at home, we felt privacy and comfort. There was always good communication with Greg and the place is in a beautiful and safe area, close to malls, restaurants, parks, bowling, the Panama Canal and many other amenities. Hi Catalina. Thank you for your wonderful review! I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. For those of you reading the Spanish translation to English, a lonely cat is not a cat at all, but a coatimundi. We have one we call "Rocky" who comes every day. This is a medium size mammal similar to a raccoon, with a long narrow snout, and a very long tail that they frequently hold straight up. Also, although we see monkeys here in my backyard occasionally, they are not frequent visitors. We do see ñeques (agouti) every day in my front yard and around the neighborhood. Of course, as you mentioned, we have tons of birds that come to our feeders. Take care, and thanks again for your great review!

Stayed one night. We felt right at home at home as soon as we walked in the door at Greg's place. Great surroundings and wonderful yard to see lots of birds and other wildlife. We would most definitely stay here again.
